Inserting date and time into filenames

You can use Renamer to insert date and time values into filenames. Renamer supports inserting the date the file was created, the date it was last modified, the date when digital camera photos were taken, as well as the current date.

To insert date an time values:

Step 1

Drag the files you want to rename from the Finder to the file table.

Step 2

Click add-renamer.png and choose Date/Time.

Step 3

Choose the date value from the Date/Time pop-up menu.

Step 4

Drag the date/time fields (such as the year) you would like to insert into the Format field.

Step 5

Click Apply.

For most date and time fields you drag into the Format field you can choose how that field is formatted by clicking on its menu. For example, for the year you can choose whether the whole year will be displayed (for example 2012) or only the last two digits (12).
